Troubleshooting Guide¶
Signal Pilot indicator not behaving? Start here. The problems below are the ones readers hit most, each with what to do about it. If yours is not here, contact support.
🚨 Quick Diagnostic Checklist¶
Run down this list first. It settles most problems before you have to hunt for them.
- A TradingView account, active: Free holds three indicators per chart, paid tiers hold more
- Signal Pilot subscription active and access granted
- Using latest indicator version (check version number)
- Browser cache cleared recently
- Sufficient chart history loaded (at least 500 bars)
- Internet connection stable
- TradingView servers operational (check status.tradingview.com)
📊 Signal & Display Issues¶
🔍 Signals Not Appearing on Chart¶
Critical Issue
Symptoms: Indicator loaded but no signals showing
Common Causes & Solutions:
1. Insufficient Chart History¶
Problem: Not enough historical data loaded for indicator calculations
Solution:
1. Scrolling left on chart loads more history
2. At least 500-1000 bars of data is recommended
3. Give the indicator a few seconds to recalculate
4. Signals are expected to appear after recalculation
2. Wrong Timeframe for Current Market Conditions¶
Problem: Timeframe too high/low for current volatility
Solution:
Daily chart: Good for trending markets, sparse in ranges
4H chart: Balanced signal frequency
1H chart: More frequent signals
15m chart: Very frequent, best for active markets
Switch timeframes and see whether signals appear.
3. Market in Tight Range¶
Problem: Pentarch marks cycle phases, and a tight range is a market not moving through them
Solution:
This is NORMAL behavior. Indicators don't force signals.
- Check a different, more volatile symbol
- Wait for breakout or increased volatility
- Or use Janus Atlas for range-based level trading
4. Indicator Not Fully Loaded¶
Problem: Indicator loaded but not calculating
Solution:
1. Remove the indicator from the chart
2. Refresh the browser (Ctrl+F5, or Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac)
3. Add the indicator again from the Indicators menu
4. Give it five to ten seconds to calculate
Still nothing? Check the version: an old one may have been retired.
⚠️ Signals Appearing Then Disappearing¶
Common Confusion
Symptoms: Signals show up during bar, vanish before you can act
Root Cause: This is NORMAL intrabar behavior, not a bug!
Why It Happens: - Indicators calculate on every price tick - Preliminary signals can appear mid-bar - Only CLOSED bar signals are final - This prevents repainting
Solution: Use proper alert settings
Fix Alert Settings:¶
1. Right-click the chart and choose Add Alert
2. Condition: choose the indicator
3. Event: choose the one you want, such as "IGN Event"
4. Options: set it to "Once Per Bar Close" ← this is the one that matters
5. Create the alert
What "Once Per Bar Close" does: - ✅ Only triggers on confirmed, closed bars - ✅ No disappearing signals - ✅ Reliable, actionable alerts - ❌ Won't notify you of intrabar preliminary signals
Key information: Intrabar signals are "maybe": closed bar signals are "confirmed."
🎨 Wrong Signal Colors / Visual Issues¶
Display Fix
Symptoms: Signals showing but colors are off or hard to see
Solutions:
Light/Dark Mode Mismatch¶
1. Click the indicator name on the chart
2. Open the "Style" tab
3. Set the colours by hand
4. Or switch the TradingView theme, top right
Overlapping Indicators¶
Problem: Multiple indicators using same colors
Solution:
- Change one indicator's color scheme
- Use different visual styles (shapes vs. text)
- Load fewer indicators on same chart
Tiny Signals / Can't See¶
1. Open the indicator settings
2. "Style" tab
3. Raise the "Size" setting
4. Turn labels on or off to taste
🔔 Alert Issues¶
🔕 Alerts Not Firing¶
Critical Issue
Symptoms: Alert created but no notifications received
Diagnostic Steps:
Step 1: Verify Alert Is Active¶
1. Click the "Alert" button in the top toolbar
2. Look through the list of alerts
3. Find your Signal Pilot alert
4. Make sure it has not expired and is not paused
Step 2: Check Alert Trigger Condition¶
WRONG: "Any alert() function call"
WRONG: "Every time indicator plots"
RIGHT: "Once Per Bar Close"
RIGHT: Specific event selected (e.g., "IGN Event")
Step 3: Test on Lower Timeframe¶
1. Create a test alert on a 5m or 15m chart
2. Wait for the next signal: it should not take long
3. Check that the notification arrives
4. If working: Original alert was set up wrong
5. If not working: Notification settings issue exists
Step 4: Check Notification Settings¶
On Desktop:
1. Go to TradingView → profile icon → Settings
2. Open the Notifications tab
3. Make sure "Show pop-ups" is on
4. Check that the email address is right
5. Look in the inbox and in the spam folder
On Mobile:
1. Go to phone Settings → Apps → TradingView
2. Turn on "Notifications"
3. Turn on "Sound"
4. Turn on "Banners/Alerts"
5. Check that Do Not Disturb is off
🔊 Too Many Alerts / Alert Spam¶
Alert Management
Symptoms: Constant notifications, overwhelming
Solutions:
1. Change to Higher Timeframe¶
On 15m? Try 1H
On 1H? Try 4H
On 4H? Try the daily
Higher timeframes print fewer events, and each covers more ground
2. Be More Selective with Events¶
Instead of alerting on ALL events:
Watching for a way in:
- TD, the early sign that the fall is running out of sellers
- IGN, the confirmation that buyers have taken over
Watching for the way out:
- WRN and CAP, the move tiring and then topping out
- BDN, the break that follows
3. Spread the alerts across symbols wisely¶
Do not put the same alert on twenty symbols.
Better approach:
- Use Augury Grid to scan multiple symbols
- Create alerts only for top 3-5 watchlist symbols
- Rotate symbols weekly based on volatility
4. Add Level Filters¶
Combine Pentarch + Janus Atlas:
- An event on a level is a reading with two sources
- An event in open space is a reading with one
- Which of the two you have is on screen before anything happens
Example of narrowing: alert only on IGN events within 2% of a major support level
Alerts firing at the wrong moment¶
Symptoms: The alert fires while the bar is still forming, and the signal is gone by the time you look
Cause: The alert's frequency is not set to "Once Per Bar Close"
Solution:
1. Delete the alert
2. Create a new one
3. Set "Options" to "Once Per Bar Close"
4. Leave "Only Once" unticked, unless you want it to fire once and stop
5. Save it
🔑 Access & Loading Issues¶
❌ "Indicator Not Found" in Search¶
Access Issue
Symptoms: Can't find Signal Pilot indicators in TradingView search
Possible Causes:
1. Access Not Yet Granted¶
Timeline:
- Purchase → Receive email → Provide TradingView username
- Access granted within 24 hours (usually faster)
- Check email for confirmation
Status check:
1. Sign in to your account dashboard on signalpilot.io
2. Look at the "Indicator Access" status
3. Still pending? Write to support with your order number
2. Wrong TradingView Account¶
Was the correct username provided?
Check:
1. Sign out of TradingView
2. Sign in to the account you gave Signal Pilot
3. Search for the indicators again
3. Indicator Name Changed/Updated¶
Search terms that work:
- "Signal Pilot"
- "Pentarch"
- "Janus Atlas"
- "OmniDeck"
Search for "Pentarch" on its own rather than "Pentarch v1.0"
4. Private/Invite-Only Script¶
Signal Pilot indicators are invite-only.
Explicit access grant is required.
Cannot be found in public indicator library.
Will appear in the user's indicator list after invite.
Indicator Shows "Loading..." Forever¶
Symptoms: Indicator added but stuck on "Loading..." or "Calculating..."
Solutions:
Quick Fix:¶
1. Remove the indicator
2. Refresh the browser (Ctrl+F5, or Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac)
3. Clear the browser cache
4. Add the indicator again
5. Give it thirty seconds
If Quick Fix Doesn't Work:¶
Check TradingView Server Status: - Visit status.tradingview.com - Look for ongoing incidents - Wait for resolution if servers are degraded
Try a different browser:
On Chrome? Try Firefox
On Firefox? Try Edge
On Safari? Try Chrome
Some browsers have conflicts with specific scripts
Check Browser Extensions:
Ad blockers and privacy extensions can interfere.
Test:
1. Open a private window
2. Sign in to TradingView
3. Try loading the indicator
4. If it loads, turn the extensions off one at a time to find the one at fault
Indicator Suddenly Disappeared from Chart¶
Symptoms: Indicator was working, now it's gone
Common Causes:
1. Indicator Updated (New Version)¶
The old version was retired, so add the new one
Solution:
1. Look in your email for the update notice
2. Search for the version named on the indicator's docs page and remove the older copy
3. Add the new version to the chart
4. Delete the old alerts
5. Build new ones on the new version
2. Chart Template Issue¶
If using chart templates/layouts:
1. Do not save a template that carries an invite-only indicator
2. Templates can't share invite-only scripts
3. Add the indicators to each chart yourself
3. Access Revoked¶
Rare, but happens if:
- Subscription expired
- Payment failed
- Refund processed
Check:
1. Subscription status at signalpilot.io
2. Email for expiration notices
3. Payment method is current
4. TradingView Account Change¶
Switched TradingView accounts?
- Access is per-account
- Need to request access for new account
- Contact support with new username
⚙️ Configuration Issues¶
Settings Not Saving¶
Symptoms: Change indicator settings, they revert when you reload
Solution:
TradingView requires layout SAVE:
1. Make your changes to the indicator
2. Click "Layouts" at the top of the chart
3. Click "Save", or "Save As…"
4. Give it a name
5. Click "Save layout"
Alternative:
- Changes save automatically per-symbol if layouts aren't changed
- But switching symbols may reset if not saved to layout
Multiple Indicator Instances Showing Different Signals¶
Symptoms: Two instances of Pentarch showing different signals
Cause: Different settings or versions
Solution:
1. Click each indicator name in turn
2. Read the version number under "Settings" → "About"
3. Make sure both are the same version
4. Compare the "Inputs" tab on each: the settings must match
5. If they differ, remove one and add it back with the settings you want
📱 Mobile App Issues¶
📱 Indicators Not Showing on Mobile¶
Mobile Setup
Symptoms: Work on desktop, not on TradingView mobile app
Key information: an invite-only indicator follows the account, not the device
What to check first:¶
❌ Signed in on the phone with a different TradingView account
❌ The chart on the phone is not the layout you set up
✅ Same account, and the indicator is in your list
✅ Alerts reach the phone once notifications are on
✅ A saved layout brings the whole chart across
Workaround:¶
1. Set the chart up on the desktop or web version
2. Save it as a layout and name it, say "BTC Pentarch"
3. Open the TradingView app on the phone
4. Load the same symbol
5. Load the layout you saved
6. The indicators come with it
Alerts Not Working on Mobile¶
Symptoms: Receive alerts on desktop, not on phone
Fix Mobile Notifications:
iPhone:
1. Settings → Notifications → TradingView
2. Allow Notifications: ON
3. Sounds: ON
4. Badges: ON
5. Show in Notification Center: ON
6. Show on Lock Screen: ON
Android:
1. Settings → Apps → TradingView
2. Notifications: ON
3. Allow sound: ON
4. Pop on screen: ON
5. Override Do Not Disturb: ON (optional)
In TradingView App:
1. Open the TradingView app
2. Go to Profile → Settings
3. Open Notifications
4. Turn on "Push notifications"
5. Turn on sounds
6. Fire an alert and check it arrives
🔄 Data & Calculation Issues¶
Signals Different Than Expected¶
Symptoms: Signal fired but you disagree with it, or it seems wrong
Key information: Indicators use mathematics, not discretion
Common Misunderstandings:¶
"IGN fired but price didn't go up"
An event describes the bar it printed on, not the bars after it.
- Plenty of events are not followed by the move you had in mind
- We publish no accuracy figures: track your own
- A second instrument agreeing gives the reading two sources rather than one
- One that disagrees leaves it with one, and that is itself a reading
"Signal happened but I don't see the pattern"
Indicators calculate on multiple factors you may not see:
- Multi-timeframe confluence
- Momentum shifts
- Volume patterns
- Mathematical conditions
Take the signals as the rule gives them. Picking and choosing turns a system you can measure into a run of one-off decisions you cannot.
"Signal seems late"
By design. The bar has to close before the event is confirmed.
- An event read mid-bar can still change
- An event on a closed bar does not
- That is the whole of what close-confirmation buys
Historical Signals Different Than Real-Time¶
Symptoms: Back-testing shows different signals than you remember
Causes:
1. Indicator Updated¶
Newer versions may have improved calculations.
Historical recalculation with new logic = different signals.
This is IMPROVEMENT, not repainting.
- Repainting = changing past final signals
- Update = better algorithm applied to history
2. Not Enough Historical Data¶
Indicator needs sufficient data to calculate properly.
Example:
- Indicator needs 100 bars
- You only load 50 bars
- First signals will be unreliable
Solution: Load at least 500-1000 bars before judging signals.
🌐 Browser & Performance Issues¶
Chart Lagging/Slow with Indicators¶
Symptoms: Chart freezes, slow to respond when indicators loaded
Solutions:
Reduce Indicator Count¶
Do not put all seven indicators on one chart.
Three at a time is plenty
High performance combo:
- OmniDeck on its own, which already carries ten systems
OR
- Or Pentarch and Janus Atlas with one more
Optimize Browser¶
1. Close the tabs you are not using
2. Clear the browser cache
3. Turn off the extensions you do not need
4. Update the browser
5. Restart it
Use Lower Timeframe on Clean Chart¶
If 15m chart lags with indicators:
- Move to 1H (fewer bars to calculate)
- Or remove visual indicators
- Keep only alerting indicators
Upgrade TradingView Plan¶
The free plan loads the least chart data and recalculates slowest
Each paid plan raises both
What each plan gives, and what it costs, is on TradingView's pricing page
